OACP Awards

We have recently revamped our awards program and nominations are open! Please submit any award nominations by March 1st!

The following awards will be presented at the OACP Annual Awards Banquet:

Large Agency Chief of the Year Award: Awarded to any Oklahoma Chief Law Enforcement Officer who is a current member in good standing and has distinguished him or herself in a commendable manner during the calendar year for which the award is presented. They also must serve a population of 15,000 or more, according to the last official census.

Small Agency Chief of the Year Award: Awarded to any Oklahoma Chief Law Enforcement Officer who is a current member in good standing and has distinguished him or herself in a commendable manner during the calendar year for which the award is presented. They also must serve a population of 15,000 or less, according to the last official census.

Officer of the Year Award: Awarded to any full-time Oklahoma Law Enforcement Officer who has distinguished him or herself in a commendable manner during the calendar year for which the award is presented.

Legislator of the Year Award: Awarded to any legislator for their efforts in supporting responsible policies significantly and positively impacting Oklahoma Law Enforcement.

Prosecutor of the Year Award: Awarded to any prosecutor who has performed their duties with outstanding job performance, enthusiasm, teamwork and integrity by acknowledging their exemplary work in the pursuit of justice and promoting and maintaining a positive working relationship with Oklahoma Law Enforcement.

The following awards will be presented in the community that they serve:

Award of Commendation: For outstanding service and performance or contributions to the department or community that is beyond the scope and commitment of normal services and/or duties to their agency or citizens.

Life Saving Award: Awarded to law enforcement officer or civilian employee who, acting with disregard for their own personal safety and by their prompt and alert action, saves the life of an individual or of several people by a heroic act.

Medal of Honor Award: For any law enforcement officers, or civilian employees, or citizens who, voluntarily distinguishes themselves by honorable and extraordinary heroism, while being fully aware of the threat to personal safety and who have acted above and beyond the call of duty while at risk of personal loss of life or personal loss of their own personal liberty, integrity, freedom and honor in order to unselfishly protect other persons in their community.

Medal of Valor Award: For acts of exceptional bravery with imminent risk of serious bodily injury while demonstrating exceptional courage in an extremely dangerous situation

Purple Heart Award:  Awarded to any law enforcement officer who, in the line of duty, is shot or stabbed in performing their duties while serving or protecting those whose lives were placed in danger.  Nominations for the Purple Heart Award may be submitted by any law enforcement officer and must be supported by a certified official copy of the police report covering the incident in which the injury was sustained.

Police Cross: Awarded to an immediate family member of an officer whose life was lost in the line of duty, according to Officer Down Memorial Page.
